That purpose leads to Oscar, your saviour, standing as your adversary near the end of the game. Disheartened by the prophecy of the chosen undead choosing you, instead of him, he seeks his own purpose. Eventually, once the player chose to side with Frampt or Kaathe, the primordial serpents, Oscar chooses the other. Oscar shared our journey and was amicable.

Originally, Oscar was meant to be a much more robust character, which multiple interactions with the player. An NPC in Dark Souls, it was his hand that allowed us to open the cell trapping our character, and it is through his sacrifice we are able to kindle the flames or let them simmer out. Oscar of Astora is the most interesting piece of cut content for me. Sadly, we may never see the gang from Kingdom Hearts bopping along to “Bear Necessities” The film's iconic soundtrack could have served as the basis for a rhythm minigame. My heart aches to think of the adventure that could have been had with Mowgli or Baloo as a companion. Settings from The Jungle Book were found by dataminers following the game’s release. Tragically, a world based on my favourite Disney animated film was cut from my favourite Kingdom Hearts game. Its new cast of characters and expanded roster of Disney worlds make it a more personal and emotional story than some of its mainline counterparts.
#The cutting room floor series#
No entry in the series is more heartbreaking than Birth by Sleep. Jungle Book World ( Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep)Īs detailed in my author biography, I’m a huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts series. While there's something to be said for not turning the Illusive Man into a stock boss fight, there was room for a final throwdown, as shown by the duel with Cerberus assassin Kai Leng or if you have the Citadel DLC, EVIL CLONE SHEPARD!!! Sadly, all we got was a QuickTime Event rather than an epic finale with the villain of the series. The Illusive Man, the mastermind behind human supremacist movement Cerberus (and Shepard's resurrectionist/employer in Mass Effect 2) wasn't going to just be an intellectual opponent, but a standard boss, much Saren or the Human Reaper.

But for a while, back when Commander Shepard could have been an alien and the Reapers were trying to prevent the heat-death of the universe by population control, there were alternative plans for the final boss. After that, it's all cutscenes and colour coded morality. The last foe for Commander Shepard gets to fight is the infamous bandit, " Marauder Shields". Footage of this is available on YouTube and while the inclusion of this Mission would not have fixed everything wrong with MGSV's story, it would have at least tied up one loose story thread. During this, Venom Snake would have made his way to Eli's island stronghold, based heavily off of Lord of the Flies, for one last showdown. Instead, it was revealed on a Making Of Blu-Ray included with the Collectors Edition that 'Mission 51' had been cut. The subplot of Eli and his fellow kids nicking Sahelanthropus from Mother Base has no resolution in the final release. One such story event that did not make it into the final cut was 'Mission 51 -Kingdom of the Flies". As a result, a lot of Kojima's intentions for the final game in the Solid saga fell by the wayside. The development cycle of MGSV: The Phantom Pain, is as legendary as Big Boss for how catastrophic the falling out between Hideo Kojima and Konami was. "Mission 51"- Kingdom of the Flies ( Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain) The hunter assassination was fully animated and as with most of Reach's cut content, had unfinished scripts which modders completed to revive the assassination. You can clamber on the back of the beasts, like they were a vehicle, and rip worms from their exposed backs or event plant a grenade inside them. Only recently did I find out they nearly implemented it in the final game. At the time friends and I talked about how cool it would be to assassinate hunters and how that would work. Playing as a weaker Spartan III, enemies like the Hunter become truly terrifying crushing or swatting you aside with one violent hit. While it's arguably the best and most comprehensive Halo game, it almost had a tad more to it. Halo: Reach was Bungie's swan song to their time with Halo. Here's a list of missing or cut content from games over the years we'd have loved to play. This happens due to lack of resources, time, balance, and especially deadlines. The same holds true for games where weapons, characters, and even entire levels end up on the cutting room floor. Not only do ideas change, they often get cut completely from the final product. The games we play, like any other media, is the final iteration of years of work and ideas.
